Competency Restoration
Valor is a community-based program that helps restore individuals to competency so they can face the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The Valor Program is a comprehensive initiative aimed at restoring justice-involved individuals by addressing their unique mental health needs through competency restoration, life skills training, and recovery support.
Grounded in a person-centered approach, Valor emphasizes holistic care, empathy, and active listening while equipping individuals with the tools and skills necessary to rebuild their lives. Inspired by kintsugi—the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold—Valor envisions helping individuals emerge stronger and more resilient after adversity.
“The concept that a broken item can be made even more beautiful or refined than it was originally – – – our scars are what make us beautiful.”
By providing a residential care alternative, we foster efficiency within the legal system while supporting fair treatment for all, creating a positive ripple effect by restoring lives and reducing systemic burdens.
Our program empowers individuals to rebuild their lives and equips them with the tools to succeed beyond our care. Through this work, we create a fabric of connection that leads to transformation and lasting impact.
